Storytelling Sunday School
|
Storytelling Sunday School is held in the newly established
Children's Worship Center. Each Sunday the children and young people
who wish to attend the service follow behind the greeter who carries
the children's cross down the aisle and into the parish hall during
the processional hymn. One of the storytellers leads the service
and tells the story for that day using felt under-lays and wooden
figures to demonstrate the story. After a short period of "wondering",
the children have time to participate in an activity of coloring,
sculpting Playdoh or building with Lego's or Lincoln Logs while
a general discussion of the story is held. After the activity, the
children reassemble in the Worship Center and listen to the story
of that day as it's read from the Bible by the storyteller. The
children then join the main service at the time the Peace is passed.
The services started in September and will be held
through May, with the exception of Christmas and Easter. Adults
of the congregation are invited and encouraged to join the children
in a service. It is a very enjoyable and educational experience.

because all are created in the image of God, and all can respond to
the love of God. |
